Let's get to know each other

This is me.

And this is where I live behind the green door

I'm delighted that you decided to read this page of my website because it gives us a chance to get to know each other.

If you're a parent or carer of someone with special needs I'd love to hear from you. My aim, at ChezLola, is to provide an environment with appropriate facilities which allows families like yours to be able to holiday together, but also allows the adults to have some 'down time'.  It's exhausting looking after our special and very precious children and everyone deserves a break.

After nearly 40 years in the business of special education I'm very excited to move my work from the classroom into family support.

It's very difficult to trust someone you don't know to take care of your children and it's even more difficult if one or more of your children has special needs.

You deserve to know who I am and I would love to hear about your family. Let me know your needs and tell me if there is anything I can add to my program which will make life easier for you when you are on holiday.

Please read my story below, then tell me yours. (See contact page)

My Story
Many years ago, before even leaving school myself, I had a passion to work with people who had differences. Having spent my childhood making my very patient friends sit in a made up classroom while I made them do sums and writing, it seemed right that education was the way to go.

Initially my specialism was hearing impairment before moving into the world of special needs. Having taught across all the age ranges both in the classroom and as a music co-ordinator I've been privileged gain experience with a wide range of needs and ages.

My career started in the UK. However, when the lure of the Middle Eastern sun drew me to the UAE, the opportunities for development became even wider. During my 13 years there I had the opportunity to work in inclusive environments, head up a special needs centre, train teachers in special education and even work in a team setting up a school for autistic children in another part of the Middle East. The incredible professionals that I met along the way helped to develop my knowledge and abilities in new ways and I'll always be grateful for the amazing experiences that I received.

Of course, at some point, you have to move to the next exciting phase of your life. For me, this was ChezLola and a move to beautiful France. Retirement can take a teacher out of the classroom but it doesn't take the love of children, especially those with special needs, out of their heart. So my new passion is to help families like yours to have a fun filled holiday where someone else is able to take the strain for a while.

Please tell me what your needs are and let's see if we can put together a plan for an enjoyable, supported family holiday.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you and your family.

Lola (Chris)
